Third chapter of my Pota Activity… I am lucky as in the same area I have a bunch of Reference, and this time I decided to activate the ones called “Lecceta di Langan IT-1688”; as I never made a check before to start the activity, the first 20 minutes was used to locate the best place.
The road is quite narrow, and there is not much possibility, the forest in this area is amazing, and also a bit wild; so at the end I found a very small place, to put the car and the antenna.. it was close to the road, but there is not much traffic here around, so I decided that was enough safe to use it.
In few minutes I was on air, as my minimal setup is always ready to go: small table, a confortable camping chair, the X6100 Xiegu my trusty companion of adventure, and my chinese telescopic antenna …. and then CQ FROM IK1TTD/P ! Always 10 Watt, always CW only (for now).
I immediately realize that the place found was not the best, in fact I was open for about 120° from EST to SOUTH, but in the afternoon this is for sure not the best direction to use it, especially with 10 Watt only and a mall antenna !
But “never give up”, and also if was hard, I tried and tried to call.. a quick check on the Reverse Beacon gave me the picutre of where my signal was arriving… I started on 20 meter, then I moved to 40 meter for a good half an hour, then I came back to 20 meter … at the end I was able to put together a very small bunch of QSO, but enought to validate the activity.
But the Radio Activity gives always presents, when you least espect it… after some empty calls, I reply to somebody that was just finishing to make the calls, and I was not sure about his callsign … when he came back to me with a niche 559 I realize was what I was thinking…. 5H3DX !!! 6220km with 10 watt !!
After shutting down, while I was going back home, I found another possible place to place the antenna, a bit larger then the ones I used, and most important, apparently more wide open for my signal…. I plan to come back in this place again, to increase the score and put the Leadership also on this Park. See you soon from another Park !
