Second chapter of this nice Story of this nice passion.. the POTA PASSION !
After the test of last week, now everything is ready to go, and the destination of today was Bosco di Rezzo IT-1157 ! An amazing place, quite high for this area, the summit is almost 1400 mt on the sea level, so I had no doubt that my 10 watt could reach a lot of people.
The setup is the same as the test, Xiegu X6100 + Chinese Telescopic Antenna …. I choose to run just in CW, trying to get the best resultt with my low pawer of 10 watt. The Xiegu this time is powered by a brand new Lithium Battery of 8 Ah, enough to grant several hour of fun.
I reach the summit at 4.00 PM local time, and in about 10 minutes I was ready to go on air…. the start is always on 20mt, at this time of the day the band should be ok … and after a couple of CQ the first hunter landed on my HAM2K POLO Log !
I sue the HAM2KPOLO since a couple of years, it is probably the best portable log I tried.. super easy to use, very realiable and immediate to react…. he show you istantly a nice map that give you a quick impression of how your antenna is working … also has a couple of features real interesting like the P2P buttone and Self Spotting button.
The P2P button allow you to add istantly the reference of your correspondent that call youu from another park with one click only… really interestng !!!!
The SELF SPOTTING button place quickly a spot for you with frequency and mode already reeady… at the end with low power I think is not that disohonable using the self spot at least to start the activation .. then the RBN beacon will grab you and you will displayed on every ham screen !!
The Band is not super open, but s I am now able to add some calls every 1-3 minutes, which is a relaxed rate, but enought to have fun… all Europe is coming…after a good half an hour came a small surprise…K2UPD call me.. at first I ask AGN just to be sure I did not missed an I, also becasue the singal was over S7 … Will pass me 559 ! Very happy for this contact !
After one and half hour, I have decided to try the 40 meters, as the rate was going down, and I have put a target of at least 50 qso for this activity! And it was a good choice, after insisting few minutes, customers start to come… some italians friend came in, and some European.. QRB was shorted then before in 20 meter, but good anyway !
In the next hour of operation I easily reach the Target of 50 QSO !!! And still a quick QSY again to 20meters to make few more….
At the end I was able to collect 54 qso. In the evening I got the pleasure to have an email from Mario IK1LBL, anothe POTA Activator with a nicet number of Park Activated, and he congrats with me for the operation ! May be next time together !
